Our Mitchell Family data originates in Harford County, Maryland at the time of Elisha Mitchell's birth at about 1807 based on census records. Mitchell is also spelled as Mitchel in the federal censuses. There were several Mitchell families living in Harford County as far back as 1774 which is the year that Harford County was designated as a separate county in Maryland.
